DEFENCE INGREDIENT GUIDE
Mango
Vitamin A helps maintain and rebuild your mucosal barriers, such as your respiratory and intestinal tracts – these are your first line of defence against infections! Vitamin A also enhances your antibody response at these barriers, ensuring strong immunity.

Water
Why is proper hydration essential for a healthy immune system? You’re 60% water, and it’s the water that carries nutrients and important players of your immune system to where they’re needed and helps carry the by-products away.

Lemon
Vitamin C helps reduce your susceptibility to infections by improving the function of a subset of your immune cells. As an anti-oxidant, it also scavenges damaging pro-oxidants from pollution and pesticides that enter your lungs and can cause respiratory diseases!

Ginger
Gingerols have been shown to block the attachment of viruses to your mucosal barriers (one example being your respiratory airway) and prevent them entering your cells! Gingerols also have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effects!

Turmeric
The active compound curcumin has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, such as reducing levels of detrimental cytokines (chemical messengers that act as signals between cells!) that cause damage in infections.

Black Peppercorn
The piperine in this spice enhances the absorption of curcumin from turmeric (in this drink!) to help further reduce inflammation.

Lemon Balm Tea
The flavonoids and phenolic acids have antioxidant, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory effects.
